We are getting ready for our performances of The Gigantic Star by making our own stars with the help of Mrs Tomlinson and her friend Linda. We made these ones by measuring, bending and twisting willow. They look very beautiful displayed on our tree in the classroom.

Christmas has arrived in Class 1
Our Christmas celebrations began with a birthday!
Whose birthday is celebrated at Christmas?
We used the Nativity scene to retell the story of Jesus' birth in Bethlehem and made birthday cards for Him.
Pandas with Class 4
Class 1 enjoyed working with Class 4 learning about pandas and China. We found China on a globe and learnt how to say hello and goodbye in Chinese.
We used printing and blow-painting to create panda pictures...
..and Mr Short taught us a Chinese rhyme about pandas.

Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree - Work with Class 3
Last week on Wednesday and Friday we worked with Class 3. Putting together Class 3's food topic with our topic about bears, we themed our days around Winnie the Pooh and his love of honey.
We read the story and then made honey bees. Our Class 3 friends were very helpful.
We used the laptops and Tux Paint to create bee pictures.
We used hexagons to make tessellating patterns and pictures and made delicious honey flapjacks.
Isn't it funny how a bear likes honey.
Buzz! Buzz! Buzz!
I wonder why he does!

Magical Maths Monday
Monday 14th November was Maths Monday. We wore mathematical clothes to school covered in numbers, stripes, patterns and shapes and we spent the day taking part in maths challenges.
Our first challenge was a number trail where we spotted lots of numbers around school. We found lots and lots of numbers and took photos of them.
In the afternoon, Year 6 came to visit bringing maths games with them which they taught us how to play.
We had lots of fun and it was a wonderful way to start the week.

Making porridge!
As part of our topic on bears, Class 1 have been reading Goldilocks and the Three Bears. We decided it would be a good idea to make porridge.
Once it was made (and had time to cool down) we decided on our favourite topping and we tucked in!
It didn't last long.
