Autumn Sunshine
Last week Reception made the most of a perfect Autumn afternoon and our beautiful surroundings. We explored our site searching for interesting and special natural objects.
Once back in class, the children turned their collection of natural 'goodies' into a piece of artwork choosing an animal they might see near our school. Can you work out what animals the children have created?

Weston Super Fun
Reception and Year 1 had a wonderful day at Weston-Super-Mare. We began the day at The SeaQuarium where we had the opportunity to handle sea-creatures including a shark's egg (otherwise known as a Mermaid's Purse). We were then able to explore the aquarium.
We ate our lunch on the beach and then enjoyed time playing in the sand. The sun shone brightly so we had an ice-cream or a lolly to cool down.

Collage Creations
Reception have made some lighthouses using collage as part of our topic of 'The Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch.
We also made a stormy seascape and printed rocky outcrops.
Here's the finished result....
The Queen's New Crown
As part of a Queen's 90th Birthday themed maths problem solving day, Reception were asked to design her a new crown. They were allowed to use a sapphire, a ruby and an emerald. The children were asked to find out how many different ways they could make the crown.

Rosie's Baptism
On Friday we walked to the church for a baptism. Our class 'baby' was baptised Rosie Milly after a class vote. Reverend David welcomed us and showed us what would happen at a baptism. We enjoyed looking at the carvings of angels on the font and were impressed by the font cover as it lifted up. Rosie was very well behaved and didn't cry once!
Leach Visit
On Wednesday afternoon we walked across the field to the River Leach. We were looking to see what sort of plants are growing near and in the river in order to give us ideas for creating a pond for Percy's Park in our classroom. We found catkins and snowdrops, daffodils and daisies, sure signs that spring is on the way!

Circus Skills
The circus came to Northleach on Friday. Tom brought lots of exciting equipment and we became jugglers and plate-spinners. All very exciting and lots of fun!
Signs of Spring
Reception have been very excited to see snowdrops, daffodils and narcissus growing in our own little garden. We used magnifying glasses to look closely at the flowers to see what shapes and colours we could see. Look at the stunning paintings the children created as a result.
