As part of a Queen's 90th Birthday themed maths problem solving day, Reception were asked to design her a new crown. They were allowed to use a sapphire, a ruby and an emerald. The children were asked to find out how many different ways they could make the crown.
How many ways do you think they found?
In the afternoon we shared our problem with other classes and with our parents. The parents' challenge was to predict how many combinations would there be if you could also use a diamond?
