Seeing Stars

Class 1 made willow stars today. We had to measure and then bend the willow to make the star shape. The stars will decorate our canopy area outside.

Dancing Bears

Today we worked with partners from Class 2 to make a moving teddy bear. We had to colour, cut out and put our bears together very carefully.

Thank you Class 2. You were real experts today and supported us brilliantly.

We're Going on a Bear Hunt

Class 1's topic this term is 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt.'

We decided if we were going to go on a bear hunt like the one in the book we'd need to make a forest, a cave, a snowstorm, a river, some long wavy grass and some thick oozy mud.

The mud was definitely our favourite! Can you see why?

Tasting Fruit

We read a book called Handa's Surprise last week. A little African girl takes fruit to her friend in another village but meets some greedy animals along the way.

We decided we'd like to try the fruit too!

We tried everything from passion fruit to mango, papaya to avocado (we weren't too keen on the avocado but papaya was a big hit!)

Visit to the Church

Class 1 walked over to the church on Tuesday morning. We are thinking about special places in RE and we visited to see how it is special. We took our sketch books and sketching pencils and chose things to draw that interested us.

Visitors to Class 1

Class 1 had some cute visitors earlier this week. Five fluffy chicks came to see us.

We thought about the life cycles of some living things.

What did come first? The chicken or the egg?

Easter in Class 1

We spent time learning about the story of Easter then got busy making cards...

.... and Easter biscuits.....

....and papier mache Easter eggs.

Percy's Garden Centre

Our classroom garden centre is growing - literally!!

Pittville Park and Blooms Garden Centre

We had a brilliant time on our visit. We went to Pittville Park in Cheltenham to look for Percy.

First we went to the park and had a walk by the lake. We fed the ducks although they weren't very hungry.

After having snacktime in the bandstand we went to look at the animals.

We then played at the playground.

We got back on the bus, drove to the garden centre and had fun getting muddy by planting seeds into pots.

Finally there was plenty of time to have a good look round.

We had a lovely time. Thank you Trish at Blooms Garden Centre for helping us learn about plants.

Percy's Lemonade

On Thursday we made home-made lemonade like Percy.

We squeezed the lemons...

...mixed the juice with sugar...

...and added soda water. It was very fizzy!

Then we got to taste - delicious!

Percy and his park

Our topic for this term is Percy and the Park Keeper. We've been busy making a model of him for our classroom.

We've also made a pond to play in complete with ducks and frogs.

Would you like to come and visit our park?
